Newsclip by Virtual Reach Launches on Palm, Java MIDP, and Windows based Mobile Devices
Toronto, ON – April 5, 2006 – Virtual Reach Inc. (“Virtual Reach”), providers of Newsclip for BlackBerry, announced today that it has broadened its suite of products to now include Newsclip for Palm, Java MIDP, and both Windows Smartphone and Pocket PC. Popular handsets like the Motorola RAZR operate on Java MIDP, and devices like the HP iPAQ run on Windows. Beginning in April, customers with handsets and PDAs using those platforms will be able to purchase the widely popular Newsclip by Virtual Reach.
The move to multiple wireless platforms completes a development cycle that ensures that Newsclip is available to a broad range of handsets and users. There had been considerable demand for additional platforms since the launch of Newsclip for BlackBerry. “This is a huge milestone for Virtual Reach,” commented Brian Goldberg, President. “Overnight, our reach and addressable market has increased exponentially.” he added.
In addition to the growing list of supported device platforms, Virtual Reach has added to its feature list. The application now has an optional authentication and verification scheme allowing users to freely change devices and retain their Newsclip account. This lays the groundwork for powerful personalization and management features, developed both in-house and with the company’s growing portfolio of third-party partnerships. The Newsclip service also features a new article loading mechanism that optimizes HTML content for mobile devices, alleviating the need to make expensive and time-consuming calls to the mobile browser.
Beginning next week, the retail versions of Newsclip for the various platforms can be found on and downloaded from Virtual Reach’s mobile site, mobile.virtualreach.com, and information and OTA links can be found on the main corporate site as well, www.virtualreach.com.
