Viigo Appoints Mark Ruddock President & CEO

Seasoned technology entrepreneur to drive company’s growth and product leadership in the global mobile market.

Toronto, ON, – 11 December 2007 – Viigo, the Toronto software company behind an exciting new way to publish, discover and consume content on mobile devices, announced today that Mark Ruddock has joined the firm as President and CEO, effective immediately.

Mark comes to Viigo from Ventures West, one of Canada’s largest private venture capital companies, where he served as Entrepreneur in Residence.

Mark was the founding CEO of INEA Corporation, a financial software organization that became a key strategic partner to many of the world's leading financial institutions. INEA was acquired in June 2005 by Paris-based Cartesis Group. Following the acquisition Mark joined the Cartesis management team as Chief Product Officer, where he led the successful integration of the two companies. Cartesis was subsequently acquired by Business Objects in 2007.

“Mark’s hire is a key milestone for Viigo as we seek to accelerate the expansion of our company and our industry changing product suite,” says Jay Steele, founder and CTO, “Mark and I have worked together for a number of months in his capacity as EIR at Ventures West, and we’ve already gained much from this partnership. I’m thrilled to finally have him on board full time.”

“The rise of the Smartphone has created an unprecedented opportunity for the delivery of powerful and useful services to the palms of people’s hands,” added Ruddock. “Migrating content and services to mobile devices, however, has historically been a very challenging task. Viigo changes all of that. Our technology permits rapid mobilization in a way that is wonderfully compelling to both publishers and end users alike.”

Viigo’s highly reviewed debut application is currently featured by Research In Motion (RIM) as a “hot app” on their Blackberry mobile page, is showcased in the RIM Built for BlackBerry campaign and is also the “featured app” on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile Owners Circle.
